This role will be reporting to the R&D Line Manager in business area Process Automation (PA) located in Bangalore. You will be working at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

You will join a group of high-achieving engineers to lead and develop cutting edge industrial control applications for the Energy service industry. You will be contributing significantly to successful project results in technology and/or product development by identifying, proposing and implementing innovative solutions. Collaborating with teams in Norway, Sweden and Germany, the breadth of technologies and control strategies employed is broad. We are looking for someone who is technically very strong. Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to initiate and drive technology, software, product, and/or solution development using in-depth technical expertise in a specific area. Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D) for in-depth product or technology-related issues. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting strategic corporate technology management and future product/software/solution architecture.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Technical Leadership & Innovation: Maintain deep expertise in the domain by applying the latest technologies, tools, and methodologies; contribute to architecture, design, and software development while exploring innovative solutions and validating new ideas.
• Software Development & Product Enhancement: Design, develop, maintain, and enhance core software components, implement new features and use cases, analyze and resolve system issues reported by customers, and effectively work with existing codebases.
• Collaboration, Documentation & Process Improvement: Participate in design discussions, documentation, and reviews; document technical outcomes; contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, and productivity improvement initiatives to enable faster and more reliable development and deployment.
• Knowledge Sharing & Strategic Contribution: Support IP generation and project IP strategies, provide technical training to internal teams or customers, and uphold ABB's core values of safety, integrity, and accountability while collaborating effectively with the team.

Qualifications for the role:

• Education & Experience: B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech with 60% and above, with around 12-15 years of experience, including 6-8 years of strong experience in designing and working on C#.NET projects.
• Core Technical Skills: Strong expertise in C#, .NET, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, Web APIs, LINQ, Bootstrap, and task-based programming, with experience in microservices architecture.
• Programming & Design Knowledge: Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), OOAD concepts, and design patterns, with proven experience in software design, development, and building RESTful APIs.
• Database & Backend Expertise: Experience working with SQL (PostgreSQL), RDBMS, Time-series databases, and NoSQL databases, along with unit/component testing using xUnit, NUnit, or similar frameworks.
• Development Practices & Tools: Experience in web-based application development, working in Agile/DevOps environments, with exposure to CI/CD tools, containerization, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Additional Technical Exposure: Knowledge of security protocols, authentication, authorization, cryptography, cybersecurity, and exposure to Industrial Automation domain is an added advantage; familiarity with Angular, HTML, and CSS is desirable.
• Personal & Professional Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, leadership skills, and stakeholder management, with the ability to work independently, adapt to fast-changing environments, communicate complex ideas effectively, and fluency in English (written and verbal).
