About the role
The role of Safety Officer and Laboratory Manager will assist in the safe running of the department's two office buildings and laboratories. This will involve liaising with UCL Safety Services, keeping safety policies up to date, monitoring adherence to policies and providing safety guidance to staff and researchers. In collaboration with the Academic Lab Leads, the post-holder will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the Crime Science Immersive Lab, the Forensic Science Evidence Interpretation Lab and provide some support to the Operational Technology Lab. They will oversee maintenance and preparation of research equipment. Technically able and enthusiastic, the individual will offer advice and assistance with projects and will also ensure that the area and equipment are functional, safe and ready for use. The post holder will have duties in the areas of (1) safety risk management (2) technical support for projects involving equipment and instrumentation, and (3) lab management.
About you
The post holder should have experience of working safely in the university research laboratory environment and practical experience of using and maintaining analytical instrumentation and equipment.
