Fully remoteWe seek to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor with expertise in Engineering Project Management, Industrial Engineering or related areas to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The postholder will contribute to the delivery, development, and enhancement of teaching across the engineering management provision within the department's undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio. They will also undertake research within this field. Key areas of teaching include the project lifecycle, risk management, quality systems, ISO 9001 standards, operations management and resource optimization. The role includes course leadership for the MSc in Engineering Management. It also involves module leadership, integrative project supervision, curriculum development, and contribution to student achievement. The successful candidate will join an established, ambitious department with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, industry relevance, and professional accreditation.
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and will hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Project Management, or a related discipline. They will have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching, student achievement, and research. They will demonstrate sound knowledge of core project and operations management subjects, with their applications focusing on engineering companies. They need solid experience with relevant practical methods, such as PERT, Value Stream Mapping, discrete event simulation, and associated software tools. Experience with student support and project supervision is expected. The ability to contribute to wider departmental activity is required, including supporting IMechE accreditation and student-led teams like Formula Student. Candidates must demonstrate a broader contribution to leadership, programme development, and scholarly activity, potentially applying methods like Life Cycle Assessment or Multi-Criteria Decision Making in their research. Strong organisational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, and a commitment to inclusive, practice-led engineering education, are essential.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum for a Senior Lecturer and £60,996 per annum for an Associate Professor, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
