JOB PURPOSE

Supervise, analyze and carryout the activities within the laboratory for all process streams and HSE related samples. Develop, improve, and customize formulas, processes, and analytical methods to maintain the laboratory performance and reliability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Verify the analytical test results in accordance with the customer agreed requirements.
  • Carry out non-routine analysis using advanced methods and techniques for technical studies and in measuring the Plant's Performance.
  • Coordinate the analysis of non-routine samples with third party laboratories.
  • Develop new analytical test methods to improve the lab's performance and efficiency and meet the customer requirements.
  • Suggest modifications and improvements in the testing and evaluation of new equipment and trouble shooting in order to achieve time and cost-efficiency.
  • Check the integrity of sampling points and ensure that sampling procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Plan and supervise Lab Analysis Schedules and report deviations of results to enable taking the remedial measures.
  • Monitor the stock of Laboratory Chemicals, spare parts, glassware, and consumables and take measures for replenishment as necessary.
  • Maintain up to date the Laboratory Documentation system, including Laboratory procedures, manuals, products' specification and the schedule of analysis.
  • Plan and supervise the input and management of data documented in the Laboratory Information Management System to ensure data integrity, from samples delivery to the final report issued to customers.
  • Develop and maintain the Business Management System (BMS) to ensure that the current business processes are in conformity with standards like 9001:2015, ISO14001, ISO17025, and ISO 45001.
  • Participate in the audits to ensure that the set standards are well implemented and maintained; and perform root cause analysis for closure of CAPAs.
  • Participate in other Sites' Labs BMS internal audits related to BMS / ISO17025.
  • Review and evaluate the final report of the revalidation of expired standards belonging to online analysers to verify their performance and reliability.
  • Consolidate the laboratory budget input, prepare the CAPEX and OPEX, and monitor the purchasing and expenses of lab items.
  • Establish and monitor QA\QC program through international PT scheme, internal correlation and regular checks for critical and non-critical tests.
  • Prepare laboratory annual objectives and key performance indicators, and coordinate their implementation.
  • Handle customer related issues like complaints and other improvement suggestions to ensure the Laboratory reliability and performance as per the set requirements.
  • Contribute in developing and delivering the final product control strategy (specifications and analytical methods) in line with the set criteria to ensure the Lab's product high quality.
  • Plan and arrange for the calibration of testing equipment as per the set schedule. Prepare a detailed record of all calibrations.
  • Coordinate with the lab staff for the PT samples and prepare the necessary reports.
  • Monitor the performance of the Laboratory instruments and annual preventive maintenance (PM) to ensure the business continuity.
  • Perform quality check on new received batches of chemicals which include, but not limited to, Fresh Glycol, Fresh Lube, Oil, and Free Chlorine.
  • Coordinate with the HSE Team for the Lab Mini Mock drill scenarios (Gas Leak, Fire and Chemical spillage).
  • Monitor the management of expired chemicals to contribute in ensuring the environment protection.
  • Gather internal customers feedback through the Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey, and study and analyze the results. Suggest remedial actions, for any gap, in order to improve the customers' satisfaction.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry.
  • 8 years of experience in chemistry activities which include, but not limited to, chemical analyses on initial, in-process and final products, and samples within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Strong working background in analytical chemistry and failure analysis.
  • Good working knowledge of various laboratory instruments with the ability to troubleshoot problems with the equipment and test methods.
  • Good knowledge of various measuring and analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Good knowledge in research methods and standards.
  • Ability to quickly understand and communicate with technical people.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of HSE procedures & practices.
  • Laboratory Hazard Identification and Risk Control.
  • Planning and organising, scheduling and co-ordinating, checking, examining, and recording.
  • Very good knowledge in ISO/IEC 17025-2017 & 9001:2015, ISO14001, and ISO 45001 requirements and implementations.
