Journeyman Maintenance Electrician
What are you going to do

  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Install and upgrade electrical components and systems, including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems.
  • Collaborate with the production team to address electrical concerns.
  • Clean and lubricate pumps, compressors, and other equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and diagrams to ensure proper installation and functionality of electrical systems.
  • Install, disassemble, and move industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to prevent accident and injuries.
  • Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately.
  • Perform routine inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify potential problems and ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements.
  • Work safely and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Comply with dress code and mandatory PPE requirements.
  • Report safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Provide training and guidance to other maintenance staff.
  • Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF's Quality Management System.
  • Ensure the adherence of company policies and procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations involving electrical systems, providing quick and effective solutions to restore functionality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Essential skills and knowledge

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working as maintenance electrician or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working in food manufacturing or related industry.
  • Experience working with high voltage, PLCs, VFDs and other control systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code manuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong safety awareness and knowledge of safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and meticulousness.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and willing to learn.
