Job Type: Permanent, Full time We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Electrical Installation Technician to join our Sustainable Construction team.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality practical training to learners pursuing careers in the electrical industry.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to prepare, maintain, and manage workshop equipment and materials, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Your expertise in electrical installation practices will play a vital role in helping students gain the technical skills and confidence needed for success in their chosen field.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to prepare, maintain, and manage workshop equipment and materials, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Your expertise in electrical installation practices will play a vital role in helping students gain the technical skills and confidence needed for success in their chosen field.
Key Responsibilities
- Use specialist knowledge of the area of work to carry out a range of specialist and diverse tasks to support an effective, user-friendly and professional service.
- Provide general support for the teaching of students in the area.
- Set up and operate a range of machinery/equipment to an agreed service level.
- Demonstrate a range complex skills and equipment to staff / students and instruct them on the safe use of equipment and techniques.
- Support the design of the equipment / workshop layout.
- Carry out maintenance tasks including a range of testing to ensure equipment remains in a good working condition / arrange safe disposal (including hazardous waste). This will include more complex equipment which may require a licence to operate.
- Carry out relevant portable appliance testing for area.
- Establishes systems to ensure accurate records of maintenance etc. are kept.
- Transport goods and equipment using trolleys / vehicles and complete site set up.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Criteria
- Relevant sector practical experience and trade skills.
- Experience of maintaining trade equipment.
- Experience in the effective use of Microsoft Office applications and / or other computer packages including Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
- Level 2 qualification in English and Maths or willingness to achieve.
- Relevant maintenance knowledge within domestic, commercial and industrial applications.
- Good practical skills and the ability to demonstrate to others.
- Ability to interpret course specifications and syllabus to produce material requisitions.
- NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant electrical subject.
- Good industry/college experience in a role relating to electrical installation.
Desirable Criteria
- Evidence of continued professional development in electrical installation
- 18th Edition Requirements
- Qualification in Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations e.g. C&G 2391/4/5
