Wood is recruiting for an Offshore Automation Technician to join our Client team in Equatorial Guinea.
Required to perform the maintenance, testing, and repair of Automation and Controls systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment and components of oil and gas production facilities in a manner consistent with regulatory and environmental rules, regulations, and testing procedures.
Location: offshore Equatorial Guinea
Rotation Work Pattern: 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day

Wood is recruiting for an Offshore Automation Technician to join our Client team in Equatorial Guinea.
Required to perform the maintenance, testing, and repair of Automation and Controls systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment and components of oil and gas production facilities in a manner consistent with regulatory and environmental rules, regulations, and testing procedures.
Location: offshore Equatorial Guinea
Rotation Work Pattern: 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance activities on automation and controls systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment, and components on the facility according to manufacturers' recommendations and company requirements
- Performs inspections, troubleshoots and repairs of Automation and Controls systems used to indicate, record, and control equipment and components according to applicable company requirements and specifications
- Ensure control and safety system corresponds with P&ID's and SAFE charts
- Ensure system and control drawings are kept up to date and accurate
- Interface with management, operations and engineering for day-to-day operations and new project execution
- Ensure preventative and pro-active measures are followed to maintain safety and control system integrity.
- Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory applicable to systems and controls
- Maintain systems and controls portion of the facility
- Debug and optimize automation programs
- Maintain program and system files backups
- Maintain software and communication networks e.g. Ethernet, Data Highway Plus, RS logic, RS Net, Devicenet, Control Net, and Modbus
- Assist maintenance and I&E with troubleshooting procedures for equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, and process equipment
- Maintenance upgrades and repair of computers including servers, HMI monitoring and control computers and local touch screen interface panels
- Develop PLC and HMI programs for new equipment
- Generate and review Management of Change applicable to automation or control issues
- Assist other personnel with equipment repairs and other duties assigned by Supervisor
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to include work orders, spare part location, ordering, tracking, asset assignment and frequency
- Recommends improvements to maintenance record keeping and reporting
- Performs overhaul of minor and major equipment unassisted
- Assigned by Supervisor as team leader for equipment testing procedures, fault diagnosis, and root cause failure analysis
- Assigned by Supervisor as team leader in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Advising/mentoring the national technicians to further advance their knowledge and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you remarkable?
Essential requirements for this role:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent technical qualification
- Certified Apprenticeship or equivalent
- Several years previous offshore experience in automation
- BOSIET Certification
- COMPEX Certification
- Advanced knowledge and application of Automation and Controls theory, ladder logic and appropriate level mathematical skills
- Advanced knowledge of HMI Systems (Wonderware, Cimplicity)
- Advanced knowledge of PLC Systems (Allen Bradley, GE Mark VIe), fluid power systems, ESD and fire and gas detection systems
- Advanced knowledge of HMI Communication Systems, servers, fiber optics, local area network, SCADA systems, and telecommunications equipment
- Advanced equipment condition monitoring (Bentley Nevada, GE RM&D) techniques and analysis
- Advanced knowledge of LACT flow metering and meter proving utilizing Omni Flow Computers
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of pressure, level, temperature and flow electronic systems and pneumatic loops, including testing and fault finding
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of control valve operation, trip systems, including fault finding and testing
- Advanced computer skills ( Microsoft office)
- Equipment isolation Permit to Work, and LOTO process
- Preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance procedures
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of control valve operation, trip systems, including fault finding and testing
- Knowledge of offshore oil and gas facility emergency procedures and safety systems
Desirable:
- Communicate effectively in English orally and written
- Ability to read, understand and follow schematics, technical manuals, procedures, PFD's, P&ID's, Safe Charts, and one line diagrams
- Display leadership ability in team environment
- Use FAT data and condition monitoring data to detect problems and identify trends
- Current knowledge of industry best practices, equipment and tools
