Job Summary

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC's prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company's position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2024, the company held over 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin.

During 2024, net production averaged 775 MBOED.

Position Overview

As a Measurement Technician, you'll ensure accurate and compliant measurement of oil and gas production across central tank batteries and well sites. You'll play a key role in maintaining regulatory and contractual alignment, supporting operational efficiency, and upholding safety standards.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who thrives in field environments, values precision, and enjoys cross-functional collaboration.

This is a Safety-Sensitive Position.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Monitor day‑to‑day work activities to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational expectations
  • Ensure full compliance with all contract obligations and lease agreements related to metering, testing, calibration, and sampling, following ConocoPhillips policies and procedures
  • Actively participate as a contributing member of the ConocoPhillips Measurement Council
  • Complete all assigned work in accordance with company environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering and Operations to meet established objectives and minimize operational disruptions
  • Serve as the Site Point of Contact (SPOC) for the ConocoPhillips Editing Group
  • Support implementation of the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management System, SAP‑PM, and PS processes
  • Review invoices, verify billing accuracy, and monitor expenses to ensure proper cost control for assigned projects
  • Train and/or audit employees on ConocoPhillips policies and procedures to support consistent application and compliance
  • Provide limited onsite supervision and coordination for measurement testing of company‑owned meters and witness testing of third‑party meters within the operations area
  • Operate a company‑provided vehicle to carry out assigned job duties
  • Complete regulatory tasks, including agency testing requirements, Change of Status updates, and assigning tank and meter numbers for new facilities
  • Enforce all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures outlined in the ConocoPhillips Management System
  • Train other technicians in required audit‑channel functions to support capability building across the team


Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license
  • 1 or more years of experience conducting detailed routine calibrations, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electronic, electrical, and pneumatic equipment
  • Ability to work weekends and be on call as needed
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to safely perform and comply with all of the following tasks:

    • Work in temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions
    • Travel across multiple geographic locations daily
    • Work both in and out of a company-provided vehicle
    • Wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
    • Climb heights up to 24 feet to gauge tanks
    • Perform physical tasks including walking, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and using hand tools

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification or higher in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Technology (or foreign equivalent)
  • 3 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 1 or more years of experience installing and maintaining meter stations in accordance with AGA, API, and/or GPA specifications
  • Working knowledge of AGA‑3 (1985 & 1992), API 14.3, and GPA 2166‑86 standards
  • Experience performing system balance functions and working with Field Data Management (FDM) systems
  • Proficiency with Fisher ROC and Totalflow measurement systems
  • Familiarity with positive displacement (PD) meters and Coriolis meters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and SAP, with the ability to perform tasks with limited assistance
  • Ability to use a laptop PC and applicable software to complete work and prepare accurate, legible reports
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work proactively, and take ownership through follow‑through
  • Strong planning, organizational, communication, and safety leadership skills.
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by courageously dealing with important problems, holding others accountable, and standing up for what is right.
