Wood is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to support operations at the SAGE Gas Terminal in St Fergus. The role is responsible for ensuring all mechanical and rotating equipment is maintained in a safe, compliant, and efficient condition in line with statutory requirements, company standards, and site procedures.
Applicants must live a commutable distance to site. Lodge and travel allowances are not available for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance as described in maintenance management system work instructions.
- Plan reporting any deviation of set parameters and raise work orders within Maximo maintenance management system.
- Carry out major services, overhauls, and intrusive maintenance on site rotating equipment.
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all site equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed in compliance with OEM and site standards.
- Carry out inspections on all portable equipment and complete relevant paperwork.
- Ensure critical spares are available and any discrepancies are addressed.
- Provide technical instruction and guidance on mechanical & rotating equipment.
- Out of hours support for breakdown and emergencies, including being placed on a maintenance call out rotational pattern.
- Occasional temporary shift work (e.g. Shutdown periods, major breakdowns etc.)
- Overtime as required to support the business, in line with supervisory approvals.
- Assist in the training of apprentices/trainees
- Provide support and assistance, and engage in work activities/duties, with third party companies, Vendors and Original equipment manufacturers.
- Maintain own competencies to a valid state and ensure all training requests submitted and appropriate training is carried out in a timely manner.
- Any other reasonable task given to you by the Mechanical Supervisor and prepare all paperwork including risk assessments, isolation and permits to complete maintenance tasks.
- Responsible for routine checks on safety and production critical equipment.
- Maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate records within the Maximo Maintenance Management System.
- Adhere to all legislative, environmental and company standards / procedures.
- Carry out maintenance activities as directed by Mechanical Supervisor complying with all working and reporting procedures and relevant standards.
- Identify and propose ideas / solutions that will increase efficiency and cut cost or time without loss of integrity and present idea(s) to Supervisor.
- Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Be available to attend Factory acceptance testing (FAT) or vendor premises visits as communicated or requested from line manager.
- Adopt flexible working attitude to provide support across all departments to ensure team success.
- Create maintain and enhance effective working relations and identify / minimise interpersonal conflict.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisor and other work groups.
- Management of vendors in the execution of operational delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organisation and office-based support team.
- Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at the end of a working shift & electronic log and all handover/data records are completed with all pertinent operational and maintenance information recorded.
- Provide constructive input to meetings, planning and initiatives etc.Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management tools. The Wood Lifesaving rules & Safety Shield is fundamental of how we Prepare, Engage & Intervene to positively support all safety initiatives / activities at site.
- Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives utilising the Wood HEART Observation reporting system.
- Be aware of physical condition of plant and equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.
- Successful applicant will be subject to gaining and maintaining National Security Vetting to BPSS/SC level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
- Extensive rotating equipment (pumps, compressors) experience including major service/overhauls & intrusive maintenance required.
- Vibration Monitoring experience
- Optalign laser alignment experience
- Diesel Engine experience
- TMJI-10 - Bolted Assemblies
- TSBT-02 - Disassemble and reinstall SBT Assemblies
- Valve maintenance experience
- Piping standards & specifications
- Maximo Management System Experience
- Integrated Safe System of Work (ISSOW)
Education / Qualifications:
- C&G/ONC/HNC or equivalent Mechanical background
- SVQ3 - Maintaining Plant & systems -Mechanical
Experience :
- Relevant oil and gas or pertinent industry experience
- Authorised Mechanical isolating authority
