The project will create a 3.2-gigawatt power station producing low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will sit alongside Sizewell B, which has been operating since 1995 and has already prevented more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Care & Maintenance Project Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for developing the Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC (MEHA) provision of Passive and Active Care & Maintenance (C&M) activities for all stored material and equipment within Orwell Park (Ipswich) and Vlissingen (Netherlands).

In this role you will manage a team of MEHA counterparts in the development of all necessary processes, procedures, schedules of activities, resource assessments and required SQEP capabilities. You will interact with all major Stakeholders within the SZC project such Programme Leads, Site Operations, Local Logistics Provider and the MEHA Industrial Partners (IP's) to ensure the MEHA provision take cognisance of their constraints and ensure the provision of C&M fits with upstream and downstream activities.

You will also ensure the MEHA capability and bench strength is sufficient to delivery the requirements of C&M across the life of stored material and equipment. Act as the MEHA point of contact at SZC Warehouse/Storage facility to co-ordinate activities (open package inspections etc.) with the Local Logistics Provider, and be responsible for d eveloping a clear, detailed plan of all activities required to stand up the MEHA provision of Care & Maintenance whilst being cognisant of wider related project milestones.

What you'll be doing
  • Accountable for the development and implementation of the MEHA Care & Maintenance organisation along with all of its underpinning organisational requirements, processes, procedures and tools.
  • Work with MEHA IP's to define available resource to enable the provision of C&M to be undertaken for all disciplines from hands on maintenance to office-based quality and HSE management as an example.
  • Obtain and manipulate all repeatable practices from Hinkley Point C for quick adoption and integration.
  • Co-ordinate MEHA documentation deliverables (work packs, LTQR, equipment and material transfer or ownerships etc) within SZC C&M Digital tools.
  • Co-ordination of all QA and H&S requirements for C&M ensuring all required processes and procedures that enable active and passive work to be undertaken in the warehouse are in place, tracked and recorded.
  • Lead and develop a small but high-performing team with autonomy, referencing back to senior leadership for guidance and support on critical matters.
  • Communicate the C&M plan internally and to wider audience to ensure overall alignment to the project schedule
  • Be a contributor to the overall output and related strategies of the MEHA team.
  • Have adequate cross sector experience and communication skills to be able to influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Operate effectively within a complex matrix organisation and in multidisciplinary working groups.
Who we're looking for
  • Track record of delivering projects within a complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
  • Demonstrable strong leadership and management of staff and operatives.
  • Demonstrate success in managing / developing Integrated project plans and managing Multi-discipline EPC projects.
  • Experience leading and developing high performing multi-cultural teams.
  • An understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.
  • HPC experience and MEHA JV knowledge advantageous.
  • High flexibility required to integrate teams delivering SZC programmes: assets in UK (Ipswich) and Vlissingen (Netherlands), with a supply chain both inside and outside of the UK.
  • A strong understanding in the areas of:
    • Procurement
    • Logistics
    • Material and Equipment storage requirements
    • Passive and Active Care & Maintenance activities
    • Quality and lifetime record documentation
    • Pertinent ONR Licence conditions
  • Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools
  • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled
