Step into a pivotal role at one of the UK’s leading onshore oil and gas facilities. As an Instrument Technician at Wytch Farm near Corfe Castle, Dorset, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and optimizing the advanced instrumentation systems that keep production running smoothly and safely.
Working within a dynamic multi-skilled team, you’ll ensure the reliability and efficiency of equipment across a site that manages oil and gas from multiple remote well locations—contributing directly to the success of one of the largest onshore oilfields in Western Europe.
Required Skills:
- Proven ability in the maintenance, repair, and operational testing of instrumentation equipment and systems
- Competency in handling Safety Systems, Fire & Gas Systems, Flow Measurement Systems, and Control Systems (Pressure, Temperature, Level)
- Experience with DCS systems and hydraulic/pneumatic controls
- Strong understanding of operational and maintenance procedures with attention to detail in documentation and work order management (e.g., Maximo software)
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards with active participation in safety practices and permit management
- Effective team collaboration within multi-disciplined operational environments
- Previous experience in the oil & gas industry or a related sector
- Familiarity with ATEX equipment and Compex training
- Experience working on plant modifications and change management processes
- Ability to support projects involving vendors and sub-contractors
- An accredited apprenticeship or HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrable hands-on experience in instrumentation maintenance, preferably within industrial or energy environments
- Willingness to work a rotational shift pattern of 4 x 10.5 hour shifts, starting at either 06:45 or 17:15, alternating between Monday and Tuesday start days
- Flexibility to support projects and shutdowns as needed, including possible overtime
- Commitment to operating safely around Safety Critical Tasks with adherence to company standards
