The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in supporting the Measurement & Analytics business by executing routine and extraordinary maintenance on ABB gas analysis instruments. The goal is to ensure optimal functionality, restore original performance levels, and deliver high-quality service in the shortest possible time. This role directly contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring precise, reliable, and timely workshop service activities.

Your role and responsibilities:
The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in supporting the Measurement & Analytics business by executing routine and extraordinary maintenance on ABB gas analysis instruments. You will be mainly accountable for:
Technical Activities
- Execute workshop service orders in compliance with established processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, assembly, calibration, and testing of gas analysis instruments.
- Analyze products returned from the field to identify defects, root causes, and required corrective actions.
- Conduct quality and functional tests on repaired products, recording and analyzing results to verify compliance with specifications.
- Review bills of materials and technical documentation to identify required spare parts.
- Ensure availability of all materials, tools, and equipment needed for each service activity.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare accurate preliminary defect reports to support customer quotations.
- Complete, process, and maintain all required documentation related to service activities.
- Record test results, measurements, and observations in accordance with internal procedures.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in regular team meetings to receive updates on objectives, performance indicators, and operational guidelines.
- Contribute to the definition and implementation of emergency plans for machinery, equipment, and utilities.
- Maintain workshop resources, tools, and equipment in perfect working condition, requesting replacements when required.
- Suggest improvement initiatives for machinery, processes, and investment needs to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Optimize the use of physical and material resources to reduce equipment stock and operational costs.
Qualifications for the role:
- Diploma in chemical, electrotechnical, or equivalent technical field.
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 2-3 years) in maintenance, testing, or repair of gas analysis systems or similar instrumentation.
- Proven ability to use specialized tools, measurement equipment, and diagnostic methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both Italian and English.
- Solid adherence to safety regulations and quality procedures.
- Nice to have: Advanced knowledge of electronics; practical understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, and maintenance methodologies.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with SAP and MS Office tools.
- Nice to have: Flexibility, adaptability, and strong teamwork orientation.
- Nice to have: Ability to manage priorities and operate with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and quality.
