Job Summary

The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company's position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 790,000 net unconventional acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 180,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin.

During 2024, net production averaged 115 MBOED. We operated four rigs and one frac crew on average during 2024, resulting in 66 operated wells drilled and 83 operated wells brought online.

Position Overview

The HSE Technician provides essential technical and administrative support to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) teams and Operations personnel. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate HSE data, supporting incident reporting processes, coordinating training and meetings, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to problem‑solve within defined parameters, and proficiency with key HSE and analytical systems.

Your responsibilities may include:

Incident & Data Management

  • Input and maintain incident reports within "First Outs" and Intelex (HSE incident database).
  • Monitor field data and follow up on missing information (e.g., chemical inventory, H₂S testing, and other field-testing results).
  • Track spill cleanups and other metrics used in Key Performance Indicator (KPI) meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in Intelex, Power BI, and Field Engagement Tool (FET).
  • Assist in preparing weekly and monthly summaries for HSE and the Bakken Operations Leadership Team (BOLT).
  • Support the development of monthly KPI slide presentations.


Administrative & Coordination Support

  • Prepare materials for meetings, training, and safety programs.
  • Manage the HSE Bakken shared events calendar, including scheduling visitors and coordinating with Real Estate and Facilities Services (REFS) for meeting reservations.
  • Assist with maintaining and tracking HSE materials inventory, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) equipment, signage, Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and field engagement cards.
  • Support training rosters, documentation, and safety meeting management.


Equipment & Safety Systems Support

  • Assist with inventory management of Blackline four‑gas monitors, assigning devices to personnel, and maintaining visitor/guest logs.
  • Troubleshoot daily bump tests and calibration issues.
  • Help manage PPE machine badge access (Grainger machines).


Analytics & Compliance

  • Conduct analytical and trending HSE reports, including gap analysis and assessment of activity deficiencies.
  • Maintain records, reports, and documentation required for compliance with corporate and regulatory standards (injuries, near‑miss events, environmental releases, training records, etc.).
  • Collect, review, distribute, present, and archive HSE data.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable COP HSE initiatives.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Current/valid driver's license.
  • 1 or more years of experience in HSE or safety related field.
  • 1 or more years of admin support function or relevant experience.
  • Basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI.
  • Currently reside or be willing to relocate within a 50-mile driving radius of Watford City, ND.
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic level of proficiency in Intelex, or other HSE case management systems.
  • Broad understanding of HSE principles and operational support functions.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Decision‑making within established guidelines.
  • Strong analytical skills for reporting and trend evaluation.
  • Ability to organize, maintain, and present complex records and data.
