Purpose of the position: As Soil Mechanics Engineer you will be part of the Energy Carriers within Civil Engineering Department. You will support the senior Soil Mechanics Engineer of the department to the achievement of the project objectives performing the geotechnical and soil mechanics activities within the assigned budget, time schedule, specification and quality standards.

How can you support us?

• define of details relating to soil investigations, the construction of deep foundations (piles) and soil improvement, production of the relevant subcontracting specifications
• produce soil characterization and definition of the foundation typology starting from the geotechnical investigation data

• define the bearing capacity and settlement of shallow foundations, length and bearing capacity of piles, soil improvement methods appropriate to the design conditions, and produce the related technical specifications
• design of civil works related to the geotechnical field (retaining walls, pilings, bulkheads, underground tanks, embankments, road systems, etc.)
• produce specific studies relating to slope stability, drainage, dewatering and seismic soil issues
• analyze and understand tender documentation, identify technical queries, deviations and alternatives to be submitted, identify critical soil conditions requiring non-standard approaches with impact on quantities and schedule, define the type of foundation, estimate the soil bearing capacity for shallow and deep foundations

What are we looking for?

Education: Master's Degree/bachelor's degree in: Geotechnical Engineering/Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Specializations

Background: University projects or internship

Languages: English/Italian

Technical Knowledge:

• knowledge of engineering design criteria for foundations design, soil improvement methods, capability to identify proper technical solution versus construction criticalities
• knowledge of the main national and international codes and norms in the discipline
• ability to analyze project requirements in terms of client standards and local codes and identify appropriate actions to implement them
• ability to use software for the design of shallow and deep foundations, for the design of retaining structures, and for stability checks
• familiarity with the Microsoft Office package
