Job Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will be performed working with qualified Technicians in an "On the Job Training" (OJT) format. Clean Room and Controlled Work Area maintenance and monitoring; Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Monthly Sampling and maintenance; Flight processing of Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU), Life Support System (LSS), and Space Suit Assembly (SSA), Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Tools and Crew Aids (ETCA) including cleaning, inspection, maintenance, repair, Engineering Change incorporation, assembly, disassembly, and performance/functional testing. Support NASA, manufacture, and Engineering EMU, LSS, SSA evaluations, Astronaut EVA training events, and EMU emergency egress team. Repair and maintenance processes require the use of hazardous materials such as, adhesives, lubricates, and solvents. Performance and functional testing require the use of pressurized gases and pure water systems. EMU and ETCA flight hardware processing in support the International Space Station Program. Candidate will interface with NASA employees, Astronauts, Engineers and other contractors.
Qualifications/Skills: Individual must be physically fit and responsible for completing the following training and certifications; Air Force Class III Physical Examination, Physiological Training; Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training; Particulate Counting and Contamination Control, Lithium Battery Handling, EMU and ETCA flight hardware processing. Candidate must have good communication and computer skills. Must have excellent mechanical skills and able to read, comprehend, and execute detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Document directions. Candidate must have a valid Texas driver's license and maintain a good driving record and able to operate a company or government vehicle.
Education/Qualifications:
Associate's degree or Military School or Airframe& Power Plant Mechanic certification plus 1 year of position related work experience, or the equivalent of High School Graduate and have a minimum of 1-2 years of position related work experience.
