ABOUT YOU:

As a Sample Technician, you will be a reliable, motivated and safety‑focused individual with strong attention to detail and an interest in hands‑on technical work. You're comfortable following procedures, working to industry standards, and supporting accurate sampling and testing activities.

Required skills and experience:
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Driving licence.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to work alone and unsupervised.
  • Able to gain knowledge of sampling techniques.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of relevant laboratory operations/standards and properties of relevant chemical products.
  • Relevant IT skills.


ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Sample Technician will draw petrochemical, biofuel, feedstock, waste oil samples from road traffic wagon containers using Intertek Immingham's sampling gantry. all stages of processing, Use of industry standard, approved and agreed techniques at all times.

Conduct the preparation and testing of drawn samples within designated operating hours, as directed by the site supervision/management team. This includes all testing and preparation activities, using both basic and advanced instrument techniques for which they are trained, authorised and safe to do so.

  • Carrying out sampling duties using approved techniques.
  • Performing sample analysis to an acceptable standard and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of testing and sample observations and calculations.
  • Ensuring all work carried out in the laboratory follows the agreed procedures as set out in the local Management system.
  • Producing reports for tested samples and input of sample results into local/external reporting system(s).
  • Undertaking additional miscellaneous duties, at Intertek's Immingham site, as directed by the Site Management team.
  • Provide support for the operations of the Immingham laboratory.
  • Ensure duties are conducted in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, local procedures and policies and the provisions of the Company's HSE management system.
  • Avoid unsafe acts and follow company Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • Report all accidents, incidents and near misses no matter how trivial.
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents and near misses, where required.
  • Ensure that documented risk and COSHH assessments are consulted for all operational tasks.
  • Deploy Personal Protective Equipment appropriate to the task.
  • Ensure safety devices and manufacturers instructions are f

    ollowed when using equipment.
  • Participate in safety tours and toolbox talks as required.
