What's the role
The Access & Fabric Maintenance Coordinator swill provide company-side governance, assurance and execution coordination for Work-at-Height access systems and fabric maintenance activities. Ensure safe, compliant and right-first-time delivery across scaffolding and alternative access methods (including rope access) and fabric scopes (insulation, coating/painting including TSA interface, and fireproofing), while driving contractor performance and cost effectiveness.

The Access & Fabric Maintenance Coordinator swill provide company-side governance, assurance and execution coordination for Work-at-Height access systems and fabric maintenance activities. Ensure safe, compliant and right-first-time delivery across scaffolding and alternative access methods (including rope access) and fabric scopes (insulation, coating/painting including TSA interface, and fireproofing), while driving contractor performance and cost effectiveness.

Key Accountabilities
- HSSE & Goal Zero
- Demonstrate visible field safety leadership; enforce Work-at-Height controls and Life-Saving Rules.
- Ensure risk assessments, method statements and workface checks are in place and followed.
- Stop work authority for HSSE and quality concerns; drive learning from incidents, observations and audits.
- Alternative Access & Rope Access Governance
- Act as the first-hand focal point for all scaffolding contractor communications and interfaces.
- Audit scaffolding contractor performance in consultation with the Contract Holder (HSSE, quality, productivity, compliance) and ensure actions are closed out.
- Verify the contractor provides adequate supervision of the work in hand at each workfront/shift (competent foreman/supervisor coverage and authorisations).
- Ensure erection, modification and dismantling of scaffolds commence only under direct supervision of a competent foreman/supervisor.
- Ensure contractor adherence to applicable standards and codes of practice for scaffold materials, erection, inspection, maintenance and dismantling.
- Ensure scaffold integrity is maintained following modifications and adverse weather; require re-inspection and re-certification before return to service.
- Review design drawings for special scaffolds and ensure construction in accordance with approved designs.
- Periodically inspect scaffold materials and controls in contractor yard/facilities (condition, certification/traceability, storage, quarantine/removal of defective items).
- Ensure competency of contractor personnel and role authorisations relevant to the permit-to-work system.
- Drive safe selection and adoption of alternative access methods to reduce scaffolding exposure (risk-based selection and continuous improvement).
- Assure rope access competence and planning controls where applicable.
- Fabric Maintenance Assurance (Insulation / Coating / Fireproofing)
- Provide governance and field assurance for insulation/cladding, coating/painting quality (including TSA interfaces) and fireproofing.
- Drive first-time-right quality, minimise rework and maintain robust close-out evidence.
- Planning & Delivery Integration
- Assure workpack readiness (scope clarity, access strategy, resources/material readiness) and manage constraints/interfaces with stakeholders.
- Lead progress reviews, remove roadblocks and escalate risks/discoveries early within governance.
- Commercial & Contractor Performance
- Monitor contractor performance vs KPIs; verify completion and quality prior to invoice/service entry approval steps.
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement with contractor leadership and the Contract Holder.
What you bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 10+ years relevant experience in access and/or fabric maintenance delivery within Oil & Gas / petrochemical environments, including leadership accountability.
- Demonstrated competence in scaffolding governance and standards (EN 12811‑1, TG20:13, NASC) and ability to review scaffolding designs and load calculations.
- Strong contractor governance and field assurance experience; ability to operate effectively across multiple live-plant workfronts.
- Working knowledge of work management and planning interfaces (e.g., CMMS / scheduling tools) and strong field QA/QC documentation discipline.
Preferred / Desirable Certifications
- CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor and Basic/Advanced Scaffold Inspection.
- NACE Level 1/2 (Coating Inspection).
- ICorr Level 1/2 (Insulation Inspection).
- IRATA Level 1/2/3 (Rope Access).
