NOV is seeking an Engineering Technician II with hands-on experience in industrial automation, PLC troubleshooting, controls systems, and electrical equipment. This role supports the assembly, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems used in industrial and field environments.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience working with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC platforms, HMI systems, VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial automation equipment. This is a hands-on position supporting both shop and field operations and requires a strong troubleshooting mindset and the ability to work independently in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Support startup, commissioning, testing, and validation of equipment and control systems.
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC systems.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and support HMI applications and industrial communication networks.
• Troubleshoot and support AC/DC drives, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and system components.
• Support field service activities and technical troubleshooting of customer equipment.
• Assist with project documentation, drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and operating manuals.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and instrumentation.
• Follow all NOV quality, safety, and HSE policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
• Associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of experience working with industrial controls, automation systems, or instrumentation.
• Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC systems.
• Experience with Studio 5000, RSLogix, FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, or similar software.
• Experience with VFDs, motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience commissioning industrial equipment and automation systems.
• Experience with HMI development and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, automation, or material handling environments.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, or Profinet.
• Experience with DeltaV, Yokogawa, SCADA, or DCS systems.
• Field service or customer-facing technical support experience.
