API 650 Storage Tank Welding Inspector

Job Title: Welding Inspector / Tank Fabrication Inspector
Job Location: Oman
Job Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary:
The Welding Inspector shall be responsible for monitoring and verifying fabrication, welding, inspection, and testing activities associated with API 650 storage tanks. The role involves ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, approved procedures, and quality requirements throughout the fabrication and testing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspection activities during the fabrication and assembly of API 650 storage tanks.
  • Monitor and verify welding activities to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable standards.
  • Review Welder Qualification Records (WQR), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and related welding documentation.
  • Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and review NDT reports.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections and verify conformance to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Witness hydrostatic testing and ensure compliance with project and code requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review and maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation.
  • Liaise with project teams, contractors, clients, and third-party inspection agencies as required.
  • Prepare inspection reports and provide regular updates on inspection status and quality-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in the fabrication and inspection of API 650 storage tanks.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, welding procedures, welder qualifications, and NDT methods.
  • Familiarity with dimensional inspection techniques and hydrotest requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Good communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in preparing inspection reports and maintaining quality records.
