About the job
What We Do
Integer Technologies is an applied research and product development company founded by scientists and engineers with a passion for technology and national security. We perform R&D on next-generation systems and technologies for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other U.S. Government agencies, turning research into impactful products with military and commercial applications. Our core portfolio of research includes projects in power & energy systems, unmanned systems (with an emphasis on maritime systems), digital engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
Our power & energy systems portfolio supports the DoD's electrification of platforms, such as Navy ships. Our research involves hybrid and electric propulsion systems, large energy storage devices, power converters, autonomy, digital twins, and integration with mission systems to achieve fast and reliable power system response.
About the Role
The Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer role requires a strong background in electrical power systems, power converters, and electric machines. They should understand the multi-domain physics behind power system components and be capable of maintaining virtual representations of the physical systems to be used for applications such as health monitoring, diagnostics, prognostics, and advanced controls.
The Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer should understand how to identify important features and dynamic phenomena of a physical system across the electrical, thermal, and mechanical domains and be capable of creating appropriate computer models of these systems which incorporate the relevant features, dynamics, and application-critical behaviors. A candidate should understand the concepts of transient, steady-state, and load flow analysis, understand the appropriate applications for each, and demonstrate the ability to perform the studies and interpret the results.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an attitude for growth, continuously expanding their knowledge and skill to remain on the cutting-edge. The candidate must be organized and detail oriented. This role may involve interacting with customers whose needs are constantly evolving and are sometimes difficult to articulate; thus, strong communication skills will also be beneficial.
Integer is a science and technology research and development organization. As such, much of our work entails developing solutions for complex problems that presently have no known solutions. To achieve internal and customer project goals all candidates must be able to perform research, understand new concepts from other engineering disciplines on advanced and complex topics, and document findings in a way that is easy for non-experts to understand.
