Technical Skill Sets
  • Experience with many different solar project site types - commercial, utility-scale, and residential
  • Able to perform every task on a typical utility site on or ahead of schedule without QC errors or safety issues, including:
    • Neat, efficient and workmanlike conductor terminations, wire management, and labeling
    • MC4/H4 Connections
    • Understanding of module stringing strategies and the impact of module string size on voltage.
    • Multiple strategies for safely pulling wire through conduit
    • Multiple strategies for maintaining proper spacing for direct burial wire
    • Understanding of grounding and ground testing (FOP)
    • Landing large gauge (500MCM and larger) conductors
    • Proper attachment of mechanical and compression lugs
    • Proper use of hydraulic and manual knockout
    • Excavating electrical trenches, effective trench compaction in different soil types, and trench safety precautions
    • Building equipment mounting walls from plans
    • Reading one lines and developing inferences based on unclear plan sets.
    • Effective PVC conduit run design and construction
  • Able to train every task on a typical utility site on or ahead of schedule without QC errors or safety issues
  • Efficient and safe operation of lull/forklift, excavator, and skid steer
  • OSHA 30 required

Supervisory Skill Sets
  • Ability to maintain a safe job site with water, shade, etc.
  • Demonstrated Ability to lead medium to large teams (10-50 people) with multiple subteams
    • Ability to effectively delegate and communicate plans to foremen, quartermasters, and assistant site supervisors
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety of all crew members and ability to communicate safety hazards to team
  • Ability to generate realistic plans and implement them
  • Ability to foresee potential coordination issues with other trades on site
  • Ability to provide suggestions for solving potential on-site problems
  • Familiarity and efficiency with software systems and progress reporting (i.e. spreadsheets, hour logs, scheduling tools)
  • Thoroughness and detail orientation in checking for QC issues and reporting as-built deviations from plans.

Specific Terms:

Working Conditions - Employee will be required to work outside in all weather conditions and temperatures for extended periods of time.

Physical Requirements - Employee will be required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and operate heavy machinery.
