Wood is currently recruiting for a Electrical Construction Superintendent to strengthen our team in Basra, Iraq on a 6 weeks on /2 weeks off rotation cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This senior leadership role oversees electrical and instrumentation construction activities, ensuring timely and quality delivery of the project, while maintaining safety and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
E&I Construction Leadership
1. Plan, organize, and control E&I construction activities.
2. Supervise and guide E&I construction teams.
3. Ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Site Management
1. Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical, piping).
2. Manage site activities, including construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
3. Ensure site safety and adherence to HSE policies.
Design and Documentation
1. Review and approve E&I design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications).
2. Ensure design compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g., IEC, API).
Quality Control and Assurance
1. Implement quality control procedures.
2. Conduct site inspections and audits.
Subcontractor Management
1. Manage subcontractor relationships and performance.
2. Coordinate subcontractor activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
3. Monitor subcontractor compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
Commissioning and Start-up
1. Plan and execute E&I commissioning and start-up activities.
2. Ensure smooth handover to operations.
Stakeholder Interface
1. Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
2. Coordinate with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
2. Minimum 15+ years of experience in E&I construction, with emphasis on brownfield projects.
3. Experience in oil and gas industry, preferably in the Middle East.
4. Professional certifications (e.g., PE, Chartered Engineer).
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
2. Experience with flare systems.
3. Previous experience working in the Middle East.
Skills:
1. Strong leadership and management skills.
2. Excellent communication and coordination skills.
3. Ability to work effectively with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams.
4. Experience with subcontractor management and coordination.
