The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Pipe Stress Engineer on a 6 month contract basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be conversant/ comply with UK Legislation, company rules, standards (UK and International), procedures and instructions.
  • Lead small projects as and when required
  • Provide technical expertise to the piping team for the layout of equipment, specification and positioning of pipe supports, interfacing with equipment engineers and support procurement for the specification of special piping items.
  • Support Design Assurance for their discipline, including attendance at reviews and the document checking/ approval life cycle.
  • Produce and review engineering documentation relating to the design and installation of piping systems. Also, provide assistance on fitness for service of existing piping assets, including calculations.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Attend different sites to offer guidance and expertise.
  • Make decisions involving technical issues, budget considerations, project schedules and safety with a minimum level of supervision.
  • Delivery on time in full for responsible scope.

Minimum Requirements
  • Solid understanding of piping design codes including ASME B31.3, EN 13480 and associated codes as well as regulatory requirements i.e. UK CA marking.
  • Experienced in the use of Caesar II for modelling of piping systems including pressure, sustained, occasional and thermal analysis.
  • Ability to generate stress critical line lists, taking into consideration temperature, line size and hook up to strain sensitive equipment.
  • Ability to use own judgment of piping systems that fall outside formal analysis.
  • Assist with the layout of equipment and offering scalable solutions for the scope and phase of the project.
  • Engineering design experience in the delivery of minor modifications and supporting projects within the chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, renewables and power generation industries.
  • Support the specification, enquiry and post order support for any special piping items (SPIs).
  • Can demonstrate full appreciation of best practice in design assurance i.e. checking/ approval processes, management of technical change, attendance at design and safety reviews.
