Job Description
This hybrid role is suited to candidates within commuting distance of Bristol, or those open to relocating with support available.
The role focuses on pipe stress analysis for complex, high-integrity piping systems and you will support safe, compliant design across multidisciplinary engineering programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform detailed pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II on complex piping systems
Assess thermal expansion, flexibility, vibration and seismic loading requirements
Review layouts, isometrics and models to support stress-informed design decisions
Evaluate supports, restraints and spring hangers for compliant system performance
Produce stress reports, calculations and technical justification documentation
Assess equipment nozzle loads for pumps, vessels and heat exchangers
Coordinate with piping, structural, process and project delivery teams
Review technical submissions, vendor documents and design deviation requests
Support design reviews, hazard studies and engineering risk assessments
Provide specialist guidance to junior engineers and wider project teams
Qualifications
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.
We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
Strong working experience using CAESAR II for pipe stress analysis
Good knowledge of ASME III, B31, or comparable piping codes
Experience on industrial, energy, nuclear, or major infrastructure projects
• Understanding of piping flexibility, support design and load assessment
Able to produce clear, accurate and defensible technical reports
Knowledge of static equipment including vessels and heat exchangers
Familiarity with E3D, PDMS, Navisworks or AutoCAD is beneficial
Chartership, or progress toward Chartership, would be advantageous
