Job summary

The postholder will lead the operational implementation of the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) within the Trust, ensuring alignment with trust wide anti racist priorities and commitments.

As this is a newly established role, the postholder will take responsibility for developing and delivering a comprehensive PCREF implementation plan that sets out clear priorities, measurable outcomes, milestones, timescales, and objectives accessible to all stakeholders.

"It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract. "

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Trust's Health Inequalities team and partners across the ICB, the postholder will ensure a coordinated, evidence based approach to PCREF delivery. This work will be crucial in preparing the organisation for future CQC assessment of PCREF progress and in supporting the Trust's wider ambition to reduce racial inequalities in mental health services.

Some of the key duties include

o Developing and managing project plans, including tracking improvements via Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles

o Coordinating with clinical and corporate staff to implement change ideas.o Reporting progress on race disparities in mental health to the Trust Board.o Ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards regarding equality.

  • Masters Degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline / subject area.
  • Practitioner level Project Management Qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development

  • Previous experience working in racial inequalities, mental health, or community engagement.
  • Strong understanding of health inequalities, anti-racism, and NHS structures.
  • Experience of planning complex projects within and across directorate and/or organisational boundaries is essential
  • Experience of good stakeholder management - working with staff of mixed disciplines at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience of working within a formal governance model using an established project management methodology
  • Understanding and knowledge of the EDI agenda, the value and impact of the projects
